Our Purpose
Founded in 2012, Vets to Vets United, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a goal to have local veterinarians and other volunteers to work together to provide service, therapeutic, and emotional support dogs, as well as discounted veterinary care to our veterans with disabilities, many of which are struggling with loneliness, depression, Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI), and physical disabilities. This support also significantly reduces the number of dogs euthanized at the local animal shelters as NC has one of the highest euthanasia rates in the US.

Our Mission
We pair US veterans with disabilities with rescued dogs for an enhanced quality of life. Our vision is to improve lives, and save lives, one veteran and one service dog at a time.

Our Vets To Vets United Strategic Disabled Veteran Program Offerings:
Through a two-year program, Vets to Vets United focuses on an achievable goal for veterans. Three core tests are emphasized based on our belief that we must train our veteran/dog teams in a safe and effective manner:

1. Public Access Test: assessment is completed in the 1st 3 months to ensure that the veteran and their service dog in training are able to work together in public areas.

2. Therapy Animal Evaluation: completed by independent evaluators after 8 months of training to certify that the veteran/dog team is qualified to provide animal assisted therapy for others in the community wo are in need.

3. Service Animal Evaluation: after ~2 years of training, the veteran and their service dog in training should be proficient in 3 tasks to mitigate a disability. This alows the veteran/dog team to graduate as a Service Dog team.

Our mission is delivered through 4 strategic offerings, experiencing the healing power of the healing-animal bond:
- Addressing           - Training             - Coaching             - Sharing
